The air is already buzzing with excitement! We are thrilled to announce that planning for Project Pride Camp, our exclusive week-long summer experience for LGBTQ+ teens and allies aged 13–18, is officially underway!
This isn’t just a summer camp—it’s a sanctuary, a celebration, and a launching pad for the next generation of queer leaders. If you believe in creating a vibrant, affirming, and unforgettable experience for our young community, read on!
What is Project Pride Camp?
Project Pride Camp is a one-week, immersive experience designed to foster resilience, leadership, and a profound sense of belonging for teens in the 13–18 age range.
In a world where finding safe, supportive spaces can sometimes be a challenge, our camp will be a haven where every camper is celebrated for exactly who they are. They will leave with lifelong friendships, valuable life skills, and a stronger, prouder sense of self.
Camp Details at a Glance:
- Target Age: Teens 13-18
- Duration: 1 week (7 days, 6 nights)
- Focus: Community Building, Leadership Development, Self-Affirmation, and Fun!
Our Vision for a Week of Queer Joy
We are crafting a schedule that blends traditional, joyful camp activities with empowering workshops and discussions. Imagine a week filled with:
- Creative Expression: Zine-making workshops, collaborative art projects, and an end-of-week talent showcase or “Queer Prom.”
- Skill-Building: Leadership training, social justice advocacy workshops, and discussions on LGBTQ+ history and current events.
- Outdoor Adventure: Campfires, hiking, team-building games, and connecting with nature in a safe, inclusive environment.
- Pure Fun: Game nights (D&D campaign, anyone?), sports, tie-dye, and plenty of time for simple, restful connection.
The core mission is simple: to create a space where teens can be unequivocally, authentically themselves.
The Planning Phase is Go!
A camp of this caliber doesn’t just happen—it takes a community. We are starting the foundational planning right now to ensure we can secure the perfect location, amazing staff, and the necessary resources for a successful event.
We Need Your Help!
This is where you come in! Whether you’re a seasoned organizer, a passionate advocate, or just someone with a great idea, we are building our initial planning committees and looking for input in the following areas:
- Venue & Logistics: Sourcing a safe, private, and well-equipped facility (think cabins, communal spaces, and outdoor areas).
- Program & Activities: Brainstorming workshop themes, speaker outreach, and planning the daily activity schedule.
- Fundraising & Sponsorship: Developing a plan to secure scholarships and cover operational costs to make the camp accessible to all.
- Volunteer Recruitment: Identifying and vetting enthusiastic, affirming adult volunteers and staff.
Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and make this dream a reality? We need dedicated people to help manage these key areas and turn a great idea into a tangible, life-changing experience for these young people.
